Our Story – Wedding Bells

FLASHBACK from the past on our wedding website….

It all began over two years ago. We were both using e-harmony online to find a perfect match. I received Sheldon as a possible match. We communicated through the process online and then we met for dinner about a week later. The first place we selected to eat was overcrowded (that’s Pappasito’s for ya!), so we went to Champs (which is now out of business at that location) to have dinner. I do believe we must have had dinner and talked for four hours straight, never running out of things to talk about. It was instant chemistry! That was the beginning of our relationship…….we have dated ever since then.

Sheldon propsed on New Year’s Eve 2007. We had dinner earlier that evening and were in our pajamas on the floor of the living room snuggled in front of the firplace. We were watching the New Year’s Eve celebrations on television. As we watched the one for the central time zone, he went off to the kitchen to get our champange to toast. When he returned we watched the ball drop, toasted in the new year, and he popped the question. My ring was tied on the stem of my glass. Such a romantic!

So what happened in between the first date and now? We have gone many places together and learned more about each other with each passing day!  We went to San Antonio for spring break 2006. On the way, we stopped off at the Natural Bridge Caverns to take a tour. Once there, we enjoyed the river walk, the Alamo, and the wax museum. During the first summer, we went to Fredericksburg to enjoy the small town atmosphere, relax at a B&B, cruise over to Enchanted Rock on the motorcycle, swing by a train tunnel bat cave, relax, shop, eat, and enjoy good Texas music! Sheldon had the opportunity to travel to Australia for 3 months in 2007 for work. He took it and as a result, I got to go and spend a month there with him! It was terrific – lots of the pictures on this site are from the trip. We were able to snorkel the great barrier reef, visit the world’s largest sand island, and enjoy the sites around Brisbane, Australia. Many people thought we would come back from that trip engaged or married, but Sheldon is a planner, and I knew he was probably not planning to do that while we were away from all of our family. In the past two years – we have gone through “2 of each season” to make sure we don’t get CRAZY with the changes in the air. Since we did not, Sheldon planned the perfect time to ask me to marry him.

The first time we spent New Year’s Eve together, was only our second date. Now we have spent many days together and have had plenty of time to get to know each other and our families. We have been to several family get togethers and celebrations with my family and his. He has been there for me in the happy times and the sad and by accepting his proposal, I know he will be there for me always.

Our Wedding Venue

The ceremony and reception will take place at Briscoe Manor in Richmond, Texas. If you would like to see the wedding venue we have selected, visit www.briscoemanor.com.

HISTORY of BRISCOE MANOR

In 1835, Parmenas Briscoe of Mississippi purchased a league of land from William Andrus in what is now known as Fort Bend County, Texas. Texas, at this time, was a part of Mexico and because Parmenas was not a Mexican citizen, the purchase was through a trustee, William Walker.

The league consisted of 4,605 acres and was purchased for a total price of $3,089.25.

Parmenas Briscoe passed on the land to his son James Montgomery Briscoe in 1838. James and his wife Susan Mason Briscoe traveled to Texas and established a home on the land that same year. The third home on the original Briscoe land was constructed in 1898 and is still being lived in by a Briscoe today.

James Briscoe’s family established a large corn and cotton plantation on the land, which reached from the Brazos River at Rosenberg, north along the west side of the current FM 723, to nearly FM 1093 (or Westheimer Road). The land was used for farming until the late 1930s, when operations changed to cattle ranching.

Today, the new Briscoe Manor continues that Texas legacy. Rooms and outdoor areas named for family members bring a sense of history to the limestone walls and remind guests of Briscoe Castle, the original Briscoe settlement in Crofton County, Cumberland, England. Of that castle, only the sandstone Coat of Arms remains, salvaged by the family and sent to their home – Texas. It resides in the Briscoe Family cemetery located just north of Briscoe Manor.

In the fall of 2004, the Briscoe family decided to open the pages of their history book and invite guests to experience a distinctive event experience. Their family heritage is reflected through the hallways and the pathways of this elegant estate, Briscoe Manor.

True Elegance. True Heritage. Briscoe Manor – continuing our legacy.

Experience Texas Heritage first hand, while on the grounds of Briscoe Manor.

In our pasture to the South of the facility, our own small herd of Texas Longhorn Steers roam the lush green grasses and enjoy the shade of the large Pecan trees.

Today, the age of the Longhorns ranges from 12 months to 18 months old. Briscoe Manor plans on adding more steers to the herd in the near future. The brand used on our Longhorns is a backwards “B” and a normal looking “M”.

This dress is super cute – it reminds me of a “mommy and me” outfit. I am sure my daughter would feel all grown up wearing this dress next to me. You can see the detail of the dress and quality of the design. I love the bold red top with the polka dots at the bottom. It is playful and bright yet sophisticated as well.

missy-crowley-cabbie-hatMy little guy was asked to model the new “cabbie hat” design for little boys (coming this week to Missy’s Etsy shop). It is super adorable on him and I know it would be on any little boy. The quality of the hat is superb! All the stitching is beautifully done and the darts are neat and clean. It is completely lined on the inside with a coordinating fabric so it is simply perfect! If you have a little guy that you are shopping for, please head over to www.etsy.com/shop/4Missyandme and check out what Missy has in stock or send her your custom order so she can create an original design for you and your little guy!

My Thrive 8 Week Experience

Hi! I am Tara Buck and this is an update to my Thrive 8 Week Experience. I began the 8 week experience on January 2, 2015. To date, I have seen significant changes in my energy level, appetite control, and weight management/loss. I am super excited about how easy it is to use this 3 step system and meet my health goals for the new year! I have been sharing my story with others I know/meet and this has allowed me to take part in the awesome referral program that Le-Vel offers: refer two and your products are FREE. Thereby saving me money and helping me with my overall health goals! Does it get any better?

So the background story of my experience: After trying Thrive out for three days with a 3 day experience that I received from Shaunda Sostand, I began the Thrive 8 Week Experience with the Women’s Lifestyle Pack + DFT. I have had tremendous success with the products and know that I am a THRIVER for life! I take the 2 capsules with a large glass of water, blend the lifestyle mix with ice and skim milk so I can have it as a shake and apply the DFT to my arm. Simple steps, but powerful feeling.

I am a wife and mom with two small children and we are all about enjoying day trips to the park, museum and other various play places. My kids love to be on the go and neither of them nap, so I really need the energy to keep up with them and to still enjoy my husband’s company when he gets home from work. Not only does Thrive help me to keep up with all of the things I have to do in a day, but I am overall feeling much healthier and happier with my own body image. I am proud to share this picture with my results so far.

TaraBuck-body measurements-updated-2-24

I was not happy with where I began – at a weight that was my highest and also the weight I was when I was pregnant with my children, so not being pregnant at the time and still seeing that number on the scale was driving me crazy. I feel like I am making healthier food choices, have quit snacking all the time and have the energy to do so much more each day, but have not incorporated an exercise routine as of yet. As I continue with Thrive I foresee, I will add exercise to my weekly plan. I am really just so happy that the number on the scale is always coming down! Keeps me motivated to stick with Thrive and do more for myself!

Want to know what Thrive can do for you? Take a look at my Le-Vel website, create your own account and begin referrals to your site too. It is a win – win for you and your health!

Hi! I AM Tara Buck and I began a three day sample of THRIVE on December 19th. The first day, I took the 2 capsules with a large glass of water, blended the lifestyle mix with ice and skim milk so I could have a shake and applied the DFT to my arm. Simple steps, but a powerful feeling.

My energy on day one was super. I could not believe it! As a mom with two small kids, I was energized enough to do all the household chores and play with the kids all day. I even attended a holiday shopping event that night and did not even feel one bit tired when I returned home. I was very IMPRESSED!! Day 2, same high energy level and I was really able to focus and get things done. I knew at that time this was a product I could take easily and it could help me reach my health goals. My husband also tried a three day sample. On 12/26, we ordered the couples pack with the DFT so we could get back on track in the new year! We started the 8 week experience on January 2nd as soon as our package arrived!!

Today, I am on day 13 in my 8 week experience and there is no turning back for me now! I AM A THRIVER! I am most excited about getting our products FREE every month by referring two customers that start their experience on autoship just like we did for the great savings! This is a great offer by the Le-Vel company, refer 2 and get yours free, can’t beat that. This not only saves my family money, but it is helping with our overall health. Thanks for allowing me to share my THRIVE experience!

#IamThankful for Four Generations

RV Trip with Four Generations

My husband and I decided to buy an RV a little over two years ago. We have taken multiple trips with the kids. We have gone to places to meet friends and vacation together. We have taken it across the country to a business conference as a family. But on my latest RV adventure, I journeyed without my husband. YIKES! I had to learn a few new things about our spiffy mode of transportation, but that was easy enough to do!

Back in September, my grandmother went to visit her brother in South Carolina. My Aunt and Uncle took her there by car and then she flew back. Well, my grandmother wanted to go see family in Georgia around Thanksgiving. She mentioned it and I thought this would be a great opportunity to take her, my mom and my kids. I had not been to see all of the extended family since my daughter was one month old and my Great-Uncle Richard was celebrating his 80th birthday. So there you have it, I told her we should go and so began the story of the Four Generations RV Trip!

We left early on a Monday morning and arrived shortly before midnight. Technically, we got there in one day. We enjoyed the ride by snacking in the RV and stopping a few times for gas along the way. My mom kept my kids entertained with movies in the DVD player and grandma and I chatted in the cockpit of the RV. Once we arrived in Senoia, Georgia, we were greeted by our gracious hosts, the Zabawa family.

We stayed until the following Monday and celebrated an early Thanksgiving with my grandmother’s brothers, sisters-in-law, and all their family members that could make it to Fayetteville, Georgia too.

We had a really great time catching up with everyone, visiting a few places, and discussing quilting (my grandma’s current favorite time filler). If you want to check out the the family fun and see some beautiful sights with our smiling faces in the picture, click play and enjoy!

During November, I have been sharing weekly about things #IamThankful for, but this trip takes the cake. It will forever be a priceless memory for me and my children. Until we make it to Georgia again……

Happy November!

#IamThankful for Family Traditions

Does your family have long-lasting family traditions?

We share in some wonderful family traditions each year that help remind us of all that we have to be thankful for as a family. Celebrating Thanksgiving together as a family with a prayer, dinner, and then a relaxing football game is the way to go! Once we had children, their grandparents wanted to take it one step further and kick off the Christmas season with them the day after Thanksgiving. We now enjoy the tradition of going to Santa’s Wonderland. Don’t know what that is? Take a few minutes, click play, and see the sparkles in our children’s eyes as they watch the lights pass by!

At Santa’s Wonderland, they really know how to help you get into the Christmas spirit! They have a grand venture in College Station, Texas. If you have not been, I would highly recommend it. It may be a little crowded since we have had such beautiful weather this fall, but they really have their business together in an effort to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. Purchasing tickets online will help you save a few dollars and some time in line. Parking – not to worry, get a pass or just park at the Texas World Speedway and take a shuttle bus over to Santa’s Wonderland!

Enjoy Santa’s Town, live music, camp fires, funnel cakes, holiday movie on the big screen, photos with Santa, train ride, petting zoo, Texas Longhorns,  and shopping. Then take a hayride or horse carriage through the lights. You will be glad you did! Have fun and let me know how much you enjoy it!

Happy November!
