#IamThankful for Business Relationships

#IamThankful for Business Relationships

In business you never know who you will meet, serve or make referrals too. I find this to be one of the coolest things as I build relationships with my business clients and through networking. I began my business in 2013, as a stay at home mom of two small children. In 2013, I was not working in my business as much as my youngest was still a baby.

Now, I find it energizing to get out and network and meet new people. It is, in a sense, socializing for me as I am home or on outings with my children most days. When I am networking,  I don’t have the mentality that everyone will be a possible client of mine, but I share my business and how I can serve them and others they may know. In return, I like to get to know what others do so that when someone with a need for something approaches me, I will have a business connection to refer them to so they can get their needs met. In return, I am sure others would do the same for me and that is what building business relationships is all about in my mind.

Building a business is all about building the relationship. The human factor in business is still going strong in my eyes. If you don’t come across as ready to serve wholeheartedly, friendly, and competent in your industry, then one may wonder why you are doing business? You must have a passion for what you do and be willing to go the extra mile for your clients, no matter what the cost to you. As I continue to grow my skincare and graphic businesses, #IamThankful for all the wonderful women and men I have met and those I will meet in the future. #IamThankful for their encouragement and their inspiring stories. I see it is in stepping out of your comfort zone that you really begin to grow. #IamThankful for the love and support of my family as I continue on my path to success as a business owner!

#IamThankful for my guest bloggers as well. Check out Ellen’s latest post on her favorite fall desserts. Yummy ideas for Thanksgiving!

#IamThankful for Social Media

#IamThankful for Social Media

Social media has been a rewarding and caring culmination of efforts. LinkedIn, Twitter, Google + and Facebook contacts have a good variety of interesting and sometimes comical posts in 2014. I am thankful for those following, connecting, friending and circling, and I enjoy hearing what interests all of you most. You encourage and inspire our business trends, practices and outcomes.

Recently in 2014, my husband and I joined efforts in the himandmethe2ofus blog. It proves interesting joining our separate and mutual interests and I find Doug has caring, loving comments among them.

I am thankful for Doug’s consistent work history on the Oil Rigs on The Great Lakes and off Newfoundland and in the U.S. 17 years at a paint plant, Almatech, in London Ontario, as well, has brought him to a happy retirement in 2012. He continues by playing an important role in our home business.

God Bless you all this November 2014.

Kindest Regards,

Ellen Towne

#IamThankful for My Favorite Fall Desserts

#IamThankful for My Favorite Fall Desserts

Pumpkin from the actual pumpkin, cut up and boiled and then ingredients added to put in a pie crust made a delicious pumpkin pie treat for family on a couple occasions in the last few years. My Father enjoyed one pumpkin pie that I sent home with him.

My stepmom and Dad spent a day, a while back, baking 25 pies in one day for their freezer. I am thankful my folks taught me how to make apple pies that day – All from scratch! Now, since then I try to make 3 pies in November for our freezer. We gobble those up over the holidays. Fresh apples, pie crust with tender flake (which my stepmom said is the only lard to use…..she was so sweet…miss her so…. Xoxo), flour, vinegar and such, rolled out on my kitchen counter with care. My step mom’s recipe makes 6 pie crusts, equaling 3 apple pies.

Many many times, I have made chocolate chip cookies, Bird Nests with jam and chocolate macaroons.

One of my favorite desserts lately is the Monkey Bread that my daughter brought over for Easter and makes a great fall dessert. She cut up cinnamon buns into small chunks, bought from the grocery store. She baked it in our oven with a brown sugar and butter mixture on top, all in a bundt pan. It was served with vanilla ice cream. Deelish!!

Thank you to all my family and friends for their great and scrumptious cookies, pies and breads. I love you all.

A great November 2014 to Everyone!

I hope everyone enjoys their favorite baked goods from loved ones in this colourful time of year 🙂

Kindest Regards,

Ellen Towne

When I think of Thanksgiving I think of…

Thanks for taking the time to listen to what I think of when I think of Thanksgiving. What do you think of when you think of Thanksgiving? Any similarities or differences? Share with me in the comments. I would love to read about what you think of! Thank you!

10 Things #IamTHANKFUL for

10 Things #IamTHANKFUL for

As I begin the #IamThankful Blogging Event this November, I must say, I am thankful for those people in my life that have inspired creativity in me! I am also very thankful that I have several people that have committed to joining me to blog on my site this November. I hope  you all enjoy reading what we are thankful for! Oh, and this does not count on my list, because that might take up too many line items. Please leave some comments below or on other posts so we can see what you think about our writings.

  1. my Creator and the Creator of all things in our universe. He gives me life and can take life away. I am blessed and thankful He continues to allow me to be present on Earth, even with all my faults.
  2. my family – husband and two children – they are my inspiration for all I do. I am thankful that God blessed me with such a loving, supportive husband and two beautiful children that are respectful and curious about their world.
  3. my extended family – including blood relatives, in-laws, and outlaws. They are all a treasure and I am thankful to call them family.
  4. my life – it is such a wonderful life filled with happiness and love
  5. my friends – too many to count and new ones are being made daily
  6. my mentor – I could not do this today without having been introduced to an incredible teacher of technology and going through the process of learning with her this past year. I pray she continues to mentor me and bless my life.
  7. my experiences – the road in life is not always easy, but it has shaped me to be the person I have become. I am thankful to have made it to where I am now and God willing, to continue on a great path for many more years.
  8. my shortcomings – I am human and imperfect as such. I am thankful for these imperfections because they allow me to continue to learn, grow and develop into a better person.
  9. my strengths – It is not bragging, but I am thankful I have been able to learn new things in the area of technology and for the doors that have been opened for me to continue to work at home with my two small businesses so I can raise my children.
  10. my teaching career – for 13 years, I was in the classroom teaching other children, but that has enabled me to really focus and be intentional about how I explain things to my own children as they grow. They both love to pick books out to read and they will focus and listen to a story and ask questions after. It is a blessing that they can be so engaged and ready to learn. I am thankful I am able to be their first teacher.

Thanks for reading! Check out this post from Jennise Beverly from Monday. Enjoy!

#IAMTHANKFUL: My Favorite Part Of Fall

#IAMTHANKFUL: My Favorite Part Of Fall

Fall is my favorite season of the year. November is my favorite month of the year. I love this time of year for a few reasons.

1. A time to reflect  on all the great blessing of the year and to  be thankful

2. A time to reflect and plan for the next year

3. A time to reflect on all the changes that are taking place in the environment

tarabuck_thankyou_gratitudeI try to live a life of gratitude all the time, and not just during the month of November. However, this is a month that you are surrounded with gratitude and there is even a full day dedicated to gratitude. I love it. Family, Food, Friends, and SHOPPING. Black Friday just makes this month complete.

As the year comes to a close November is a time for me to start planning for the upcoming year. Setting goals and planning summer vacations. This month is also a time to reflect on if I met my goals for the year and if not, I still have sometime to readjust to meet my goals.

Finally, I love to see the changes in the environment. The leaves change, and fall, the air is cool and crisp. A early morning walk, or early evening walk with family has so much more meaning when you can physically see the changes that are talking place around you.

But my absolute favorite part of Fall is getting geared up to celebrate with family. I love time with family. It makes my heart sing.

Love and Blessing!
